Credit notes against an invoice or standalone: drafts, finalization, rendering and totals, all in integer minor units. You issue a credit note against an invoice or standalone: the recipient, the reason (returned goods, overcharge, discount correction, service issue, other), line items with quantity, unit price and tax rate, and the currency. Every credit note starts as a draft with a CN-DRAFT id no client sees; credit_note_finalize burns the final CN-YYYY-NNNN number in the issue date's year and freezes it, because a finalized credit note is a document the client may have seen, and it can neither be edited nor deleted from there. The counter is written before the record, so a crash burns a number rather than reusing one, and the final series never has a gap. credit_note_render returns Markdown to paste into an email or a self-contained printable HTML page, drafts marked with a DRAFT banner, and credit_note_summary totals what was credited per currency, reason and month.
credit_note_list, credit_note_get, credit_note_render and credit_note_summary are free, unlimited and write nothing, so leave them enabled permanently. credit_note_finalize is the metered and irreversible one: it burns the final CN number, freezes the note, and a finalized note can neither be edited nor deleted, so finalize only when the client has seen the draft.
| You say | Tool |
|---|---|
| Issue a credit note to Acme GmbH against INV-2026-0042: two USB-C cables returned unopened, 3 at 24.99 plus one adapter at 9.99, 23% VAT, and refund the 12.00 express shipping. | credit_note_create |
| Render it as Markdown so I can paste it into the email. | credit_note_render |
| What did I credit in March, by reason? | credit_note_summary |
The line math is documented so the printed document reproduces on a calculator: gross is quantity times unit price rounded half-up once, tax is per line rounded half-up on its own base, and the note totals are plain integer sums of the already-rounded line values. On the worked note, 3 x 2,499 at 23% and 1 x 999 at 23% and 1 x 1,200 untaxed give subtotal 9,696, tax 1,954 and total 11,650, and 2.5 x 3,333 rounds half-up to 8,333, never banker's 8,332. The unit suite asserts both.
The file is .cursor/mcp.json, and the key inside it is mcpServers.
| Scope | Path |
|---|---|
| This project only | <project>/.cursor/mcp.json |
| Every project | ~/.cursor/mcp.json |
If you also run Claude Desktop, the shortest path there is one click: credit-note.mcpb
from the latest release opens as an extension, with no JSON and no terminal.
Cursor reads its own config, so here it is:
The config block:
{
"mcpServers": {
"credit-note": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "node",
"args": ["/absolute/path/to/mcp-servers/servers/credit-note/dist/index.js"]
}
}
}
The node command above wants a built file. From a clone, once:
git clone https://github.com/theluckystrike/mcp-servers.git
cd mcp-servers && npm install
npm run build -w packages/mcp-license -w servers/credit-note
That writes servers/credit-note/dist/index.js, and its absolute path is the one argument
the config needs.
The npm packages are not published yet, so the form below returns a 404 today. It is here because it is what the entry becomes the day the publish lands, with nothing else changed:
{
"mcpServers": {
"credit-note": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@theluckystrike/mcp-credit-note"]
}
}
}
The Customize page shows the server and its tools once it has started.
Nothing is published to npm yet, so the working install paths are the ones above: the .mcpb bundle from the latest release, a clone and build, or the hosted URL.
There is no hosted endpoint for this one yet. MCP Credit Note runs locally over stdio with the config above, which is also the only form in which it reads and writes files on your own disk. Thirty of the servers in this collection are served at https://mcp.zovo.one/mcp/<name> over MCP streamable HTTP; https://mcp.zovo.one/mcp/connect lists them and prints a ready URL for each.
The current field table marks `type` as required, with `stdio` for a locally launched server, so write it out rather than relying on command and args alone. The other documented restriction is that `envFile` is stdio-only: a remote HTTP or SSE server does not read it, and its headers belong in the config.
Free: Ten finalized credit notes, lifetime. Drafts, edits, deletion of drafts, listing, reading, rendering and the totals summary are free and unlimited on every tier, because finalizing is the metered act: that is what turns a draft into the document the client sees. Free renders carry a one-line footer. Pro is $19 once, verified offline.
<project>/.cursor/mcp.json applies to that project and can be committed, which suits a server tied to one client. ~/.cursor/mcp.json applies everywhere. Both are managed from the Customize page.
The current field table marks type as required, with stdio for a locally launched server, so include it. Pointing at a remote endpoint, envFile is documented as stdio-only and is not read.
Servers in Cursor's marketplace get an Add to Cursor button. The deeplink reference currently documents prompt, command and rule links only, so for MCP Credit Note pasting the config block above is the supported route.
